This collection of watercolour paintings is about connecting with the land, both the natural and developed landscapes. We do not always have the pleasure of stopping to smell the roses. My art takes you places. Places that connect us with the past and places we have yet been.

While the area known as the river valley parklands of Edmonton is vast, I find refuge in a small area around the Buena Vista dog park, Sir Wilfred Laurier Park and Hawrelak Park. I spend a lot of time here, all year round. I come in the rain, on sunny days and even during the frigid temperatures of December and January. With my husband and our dog, we explore this area via many trails that criss cross the terrain. It still amazes me that we have such an oasis in the middle of the city. It is truly an escape into the forest, with access to the North Saskatchewan River and encounters with many coyotes that also call this area home. For me, it is a place to turn off the noise and experience nature and recalibrate the mind and body. From ice flows to new buds, birds chirping, squirrels chasing each other, it is a place to find peace, a place to fill the senses. The goal for my paintings is to highlight the natural beauty in this area. We sometimes forget to enjoy the beauty that is right in our backyard. My use of watercolours captures the essence of the space while at the same time letting the imagination wander.

These works are available for sale, both at my online shop and in person at the NOA Gallery (Bonnie Doon Centre). Each piece is framed and ready to hang. Modern and minimal frames are of natural birch effect, mounted to best showcase the artwork.
